Many of the R. ciliatus hatchlings I've raised have small black
"pigment" dots that increase in number as they grow older. For what
it's worth the male parent has no spots whatsoever, the female parents
have some spots.
The last ciliatus I purchased, about six months ago, as a hatchling
had a few black specks that have definitely increased in number.
