Hello Leslie,
So far the best screen that I have found is 16x16x0.011 mesh copper wire
screen. It has an open area of 67.9% which compares to Aluminum 16x16x0.016
which is only 55.4% which blocks nearly 45% of light trying to pass thru it.
Copper screen also resists corrosion and is definitely cricket proof. It is
available by the lineal foot in 36" and 48" widths from McMaster Carr online
http://www.mcmaster.com/ the part number for the 36" width is 9224T22. I am
still using several copper screens and frames that I built over 20 years
ago.
