Optical saline is specifically used in eyes for cleansing and conditioning.
It can be used for people wearing contact lenses, to clean and lubricate
their lenses. I keep a bottle of saline solution around at all times for
medical emergencies. It's great for washing out stuff that has gotten into
the eyes, and because it is saline, it is very close to the same chemical
composition as the tears in your eyes! It doesn't sting at all... unless you
aren't getting optical saline! Check with a pharmacist if you aren't sure!
The sensitive formula is just milder, basically! Recently, my youngest
daughter had her eye scratched by a false fingernail (her friend) and it
really scratched it painfully. We cleaned it every day with saline solution
and put in lubricating drops in every two hours to help the eye lid move
smoothly over the scratch in her cornea. It worked wonders! No infection!
