The only thing I ever did that got rid of these things was to clean out the whole tank. I couldn't see another solution that wouldn't harm the gecko(s) inside. They are annoying little critters...I get some nearly every spring/summer, and only in the drier tanks do they die off.
Believe me, I'm not thrilled with the prospect of tearing apart my G.k. splendens tank this week. :(
Harmless or no, who wants to look in an enclosure and see bugs like that running around...?

Subject: [Gecko] Fungus gnats

I have fungus gnats in all of my tanks with live plants and soil or peat moss substrate.  I know that they are harmless to my geckos, but I would like to find out how I can get rid of these little pests.  Do any of you guys know how I can take care of this problem.  They obviously thrive in high humidity environments, but some of the tanks need to be misted on a regular basis.  It's really starting to BUG me (sorry, I couldn't resist the pun).  Please help!
