One thing that hasn't been suggested so far is borax in sugar syrup.
You can buy little squeeze bottles at hardware stores. The ants carry
it back to the nest and over about a week, they all die off. It's much
less toxic than most pesticides, and it's always been very effective
for me. It takes only a few drops and some patience to eliminate ants
in the house.
