Hi Camille,

I had very similar sounding millipedes show up when using collected natural
furnishings for my geckos, while living in the PNW. I removed them when I
saw them thinking most have some sort of inherent toxin but in 5 or 6 years
I never had a problem. They seemed attracted to the moist areas of the
enclosure and usually disappeared after the "dry season".

Subject: [Gecko] little millipedes?

I recently moved my henkeli into a larger enclosure
with a live snake plant in it. Shortly thereafter I
noticed, first in the snake plant's pot, then in the
bedding of the tank (Beat-A-Beast) tiny little
myriapods that, upon inspection, appear to be
millipedes. They are about 3/4 cm long, have rounded
heads, are kind of a translucent tannish color, single
pair of antenna, about 19 or 20 body segments, and I'm
pretty sure they have two pairs of legs per segment.
They ball up when disturbed, and have already shown an
attraction for my gecko's droppings. The seem to show
up more at night. As there are quite a few of them, I
am concerned about whether they are a safe "roommate"
for my gecko? They are probably way too small for her
to bother with eating. They seem pretty terestrial, so
I doubt they are too likely to pester her, but I don't
really know.
         Any ideas anyone? Thanks!
