I really couldn't say if you NEED to get rid of them; my guess is that it
would be a good idea. I saw that you received a reply saying that they might
be sowbugs or pill-bugs. There is a whole group of these little guys (they're
crustaceans); the ones that curl into a little ball are usually called
sowbugs and pillbugs, while the ones that do not I know as woodlice (NOT
related to real lice). I would guess woodlice would be a preferable food than
sowbugs, for no other reason than they are softer.
Millipedes would be long and thin, while sowbugs would be squat. When a
millipede curls up, it resembles a flat spiral�a wheel, if you will. A sowbug
resembles a ball.
