Hi Listers,

one thing Magnus forgot to mention - as quite some listers expressed
interest in the meeting I had raised the question of doing translations
during the meeting. After some discussion the members agreed to start
a trial period of one year with doing some translation in our quarterly
paper, our homepages and probably an english commented speech on next
years meeting. So we PLAN (but cant guarantee) to have english written
stuff beginning with Issue No.1/2002 (in spring 02) ... I will make a
note to the list if things have worked out.

It will - but I dont know yet when and where ... .

They will cover especially the history of distribution of all the
Phelsuma species and comment on the island-species genetical heritage.
As some genes are very slow in mutation they DO help to uncover this.

No, so far we only got a very small glimpse of their work, and they
will have to do more studies to be able to be 100% sure about the results.
What Magnus wrote is already all there is to tell currently.

Well, that surely depends on the knowlegde you already have on that topic
- the speeches dealt with P. laticauda ssp., P. inexpectata and the
P. v-nigra ssp., and one speech was about dealing with treatment of
coccidia in WC animals ... . A short summary of all speeches will be in
the next issue of our paper, but I fear it will be all in german ... .

... perhaps then we should not make those translations, as we cannot
take responsibilty for any resulting casualties *g* ;-)

No, in fact I doubt that more than few germans have yet heard about
this work - I for my part definitely have not, and I DO read a lot of
stuff ... could you sum up for us what that is all about in short words?

OK, so much for now -

Regards, Hartmut
