I personally do not find Gekko gekko to be an easy animal to sex. The only
way I have been able to sex my Tokays is by feeling the pores. The females
pores feel smooth. The male secretes a substance from his, and they feel
coarse. I don't notice any obvious difference between my male and females,
by looking at the base of the tail. My male is an enormous gecko with a
very large head. Some of my females are pretty good sized also. I had to
feel the pores on them to make sure they were not males.
