Subject: [Gecko] P. mad-mad complex cross-breeding

Hi Melody,

Yes I know of people that have crossbred P.mads and P.linatas with viable
eggs.

It could of course be a cross, but still some P.mads also comes in different
shapes.For instance you have two
collorforms from P.mad.kochi. The most common is the olivegreen type with
rust coloured spots and then you
have one from an area ( Tsingy du Bemaraha) that is much brighter green with
red spots(a bit P.m.grandis like). Still there are a few easy seen
differenses between the subs.

P.mad. grandis. The stripe from the nos to the eye is bright red and never
continue behind the eye.

P.mad.mad. The stripe from the nose is orange/red and allways continue
behind the eye.

P.mad kochi: The stripe from the nose is rust coloured and stops at the eye.
Behind the eye there are two to three half
                     moonshaped stipes also rust coloured.

P.mad boehmi. The stripe is red and continue behind the eye with a bent
stripe that goes around the neck .Sometimes it is
broken, but still there. The skin behind the scales
is black.

These markings is identical also in the hatchlings from each specie.

Hope this helps.
