Here are two good ones from Dr. Vitt.

Vitt, L. J. 1996. Biodiversity of Amazonian lizards. Pp. 89-108 In A. C.
Gibson (Ed.), Neotropical Biodiversity and Conservation. Mildred E. Mathias
Botanic Garden Miscellaneous Publication 1. Los Angeles.

Vitt, L. J., P. A. Zani, and A. A. Monteiro de Barros. 1997. Ecological
variation among populations of the gekkonid lizard Gonatodes humeralis in
the Amazon basin. Copeia 1997:32-43.

Or: http://www.snomnh.ou.edu/personnel/herpetology/Vitt/pubs.html for a
full list of papers.

Of course there are other authors, books and papers but these are my
favorites.

Subject: [Gecko] Amazonian geckos

Hello Gecko enthusiasts,

I have an opportunity to spend several weeks in Eastern Ecuador, Yasuni
National Park, this upcoming summer. While there I will have some free
time to look for herps and wanted to find out what types of geckos
reside in that part of the Amazon. I was hoping there is some type of
field guide, but have not found one. Does anyone know of such a field
guide? It would not have to be specifically geckos, but of the
herpetofauna of this region.

Incindentally, I picked up two publications from the GGA bookstore, both
dealing with Sphaerodactylus (of Middle and South America). If you have
not taken a look at the GGA's bookstore in a while, they are adding new
titles and it is worth a look. The quick service is unparalleled in my
book buying experience -- top notch!

Thank you for any help you can offer.
