You can usually keep quite a few females together provided that their is
ample room, food, number of hides, and no fighting or bulling going on.
Another importent not is the size. They should all be roughly the same size
as to control the bullying of any of the smaller geckos. So after moving
them togther you will want to keep an eye on them. Make sure none seem
scared of another, no one is chasing anyone, their health is staying that
same, fecal mater is staying consistent with what it was like before, and
you are feeding the same abount of crickets daily as before. One other area
to watch is the tail and weight. If any tails are getting thinner or any of
their weights are dropping or stopped increasinf if they are young and
growing, then you know that that one should be seperated till it is larger
then you could try again in the future. Another thing to watch for is
bitting. If this occures they nee seperating and their is a possibility that
you have two or more males. This has happened to me, where three females out
of my colony turned out to be males. So I ended up with 4 males in a
enclosure. This did not show up till breeding time came around and they were
conditioned for breeding. I still have a hard time telling some of them
males apart. Put they are males becouse I have gravid females from them
after some selective breeding.
Anyways it can easily be done to mistaken males as females and females as
males as sometimes bulges and pores do not show very well and pores show a
little more then normal for a female.
As far as caging goes you want atleast 10 gal per leo as a general rule of
thumb.
Well I hope this helps. Alot of it is based on research and alot is based on
expeirence.
Good luck,
Mario

Subject: [Gecko] Combining Female Leos

> Greetings Gecko Gang!
> I currently have three tanks with healthy (no parasites) adult female leos
as follows:
> 20gal. long - 1 "regular" leo
> 20gal. long - 1 "regular" leo, 1 leucistic leo
> 10gal. - 1 "regular leo
> I would like to know if it would be OK to combine all 4 of these females
together into one 20gal. long tank. Reason being that I am moving soon and
would like to decrease the number of tanks that I have. I have 4 other
geckos living in separate tanks which cannot be combined due to species and
sex.
> If they can be combined, what is the best method to minimize any friction
between them?
> Many thanks!
