Hi Neil.
I read R. auriculatus dwell at higher elevations in their natural habitat. Do you think that could possibly explain for the lower humidity and higher temperature needs than ciliatus, who are supposedly closer to the ground than aurics are? Just a thought I had, pardon my rambling :)

Nathan,

I had trouble breeding this species when keeping at about this
temp. I now give a basking spot in the mid 80s with the rest of
the enclosure being 76-80. I found this odd as I breed quite a few
R. ciliatus without any extra heating.
