Ooooof! Yeow! We live and learn (I didn't know it would re-attach, either.).

I have a wonderful black rat snake that I adopted through a rehab; somebody
their tried to removed an retained eyecap and now he's blind on that side
:( But he's a happy guy :), functions perfectly fine. I'm glad your gecko's
going to be OK!
