Yuri...

I would not attempt to keep P. lauticauda in groups other than 1.1. I once
tried and lost one of the females to aggession from the other female.

I do, however, keep all my P. klemmeri breeding groups as 1.2. My typical tank
for the breeders is:

height width depth
20" 20" 10" inches
51 51 25 centimeters

I have kept 1.2 P. klemmeri groups in:

height width depth
17" 14" 8" inches
43 36 20 centimeters

I would view the second, smaller size of tanks I've used as barely adequate,
bordering on too small. I heavily plant the enclosures with live plants and
supply several bamboo hiding tubes spread around the enclosure, as well as
horizontal basking surface within 3"-4" of the top screen. If you do the same,
you'll probably be OK. As always, when introducing new animals in a group, keep
close watch for agression to ensure compatibility.

I do not intentionally leave eggs in the tanks of either species. I have, on
occaision, missed eggs that have hatched in the tank. I remove the hatchlings
as soon as I notice them. I've never noticed the parents bothering them in any
way. The only species I leave eggs in situ on purpose is P. standingi. I leave
the hatchlings in the tanks with the parents for up to 3 months. I've had as
many as 3 clutches of hatchlings coexisting with the parents, in much larger
enclosures, of course. By that time the oldest young are getting large enough
that if they show any interest in mom, dad tears them up! I've never lost any
that way, but I did wait too long for one little guy who lost his tail to
dad!!!
