Hi Jesse, Leann has already replied to the aggression issue, but I will respond to the photoperiod question. We keep our collection on an astronomical period which follows the sunrise and sunset here in the central U.S.A. where we live. We use a computer controlled lighting system that automatically adjusts the length of day every week. The problems with keeping them adjusted to the Madagascan period is that it is noon here and the sun is setting in Madagascar right now (+ 8 hours). Also the seasons are offset from ours which makes it more difficult to match-up temperatures during the year. If you keep your Phelsuma outside during part of the year (depending on your climate) it would also conflict with keeping them on a Madagascan period. Most of our offspring go to other Phelsuma keepers here in the US, so it is also much easier for them to acclimate to their new owners setting if they are on a semi-local photoperiod. Over the many years of keeping Phelsuma we have found that we can easily change the start of breeding by slowly adjusting an earlier or later spring photoperiod. We purposely do not use photo sensors that sense the outside dawn-dusk light levels to trigger the daily photo period partially for this reason (such as those found in Helix and other systems). We prefer to have more control over our geckos photoperiod Here is a link to Madagascar time: http://www.worldtimeserver.com/?locationid=MG
