There actually two "subspecies" recognized. S. sthenodactylus sthenodactylus 
(the nominate form) from north east Africa and S. sthenodactylus mauritanicus 
from north west Africa. But, to paraphrase what Tony said there are probably 
many species hidden under the name Stenodactylus sthenodactylus.
