I do not know who is responsible for the new legislation requiring care sheets here in CA. More power to them! :) I was recently notified that at an upcoming reptile show I will be doing in Sacramento, Fish and Game will be there to enforce the new law requiring care sheets. I am very glad about this. I am distressed, although not surprised, to hear that folks are passing out care sheets that are not up to snuff. Certainly that presents an issue that should be dealt with, and I will corner a Fish and Game rep. to see what can be done about it. Further disturbing was the brush-off Cyndy got when she called a pet shop on an inadequate care sheet. As I said, some folks should just sell pet rocks!
I am of the optimistic sort that believes in karma and that eventually the "bad guys" will be forced out of the reptile biz. Surely some will get tired of these higher standards for them in my state, and reputable breeders will end up getting most of the biz anyway, especially as more folks get hooked up to the internet.

Though I don't have any experience with this, there are a lot of laws that are not really enforced....So the fact that this is a law, I don't think SWAT is posted up outside of Petsmart waiting for that gecko customer to come out without a care sheet....but it's certainly a step in the right direction!-----Original Message----- From: Barbie Heid [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, July 21, 2003 9:31 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [gecko]Misinformation - what can we do about it? InCalifornia it is now the law to give out a care sheet with a reptile sold here. What a fantastic thing! How did you get that passed?
