I've actually been to some of the chain pet stores and have seen scientific 
names matched up to the wrong picture or gecko. One example was a "skunk gecko" 
with a picture of Gekko vittatus, but the scientific name was Tarentola 
annularis. Not a good idea when you consider G. vittatus is a rain forest species 
and T. annularis is a desert dweller. I did my best to supply the store manager 
with the correct identification. I am sure there are other bad examples out 
there. I agree that captive bred and from a reputable store or dealer is the 
best experience. Especially for beginners
