Julie,

Ive visited youre website, numerous times, and know that you are a very well respected
and "experienced" gecko keeper, i ment no disrespect, and yes, i agree, most common
names are from the exporters or the wholesaler. Ive bought from both, and seen crazier
names than i thought possible. (death gecko, stalking gecko, skeleton gecko, american
leopard gecko(coleonyx)) Most exporters call the gecko what they think it is; they see
it on a wall, ok, its a wall gecko. find it near last nights feast, ok, skeleton
gecko. Its really actually funny reading the names these folks come up with!
But also, when approached by people who picked up a gecko at a pet shop, and dont know
what it really is, most of the time, common logic can help figure it out. We all know
the pet store staples, so 85% of the time, its one of them. and some common names are
good. like tokay, leopard gecko, day gecko. Those are easy. Ive seen a few lists on
the net of latin and common names, but its doubtfull that pet shops would take notice.
Some shops are good at handing out information and sending home a knowledgeable new
keeper, others are doing nothing but hurting.
sooo, keep in mind what geckos that pet stores are carrying these days, and
remember(which i know you do) we were all at that point. :)

frank
