Sad news, my oldest leopard gecko passed away about two weeks ago. I got Nancy and her sister when they were two days old in July 1985 from a local breeder in Sacramento, CA. They were my first leopards! I was scared to death they were too young, however, the breeder assured me they would be ok. I jokingly named them Ronnie and Nancy due to who was president at that time.

After two years, they were both looking great until one am Ronnie had collapsed. I rushed her to the UC Davis Vet. Teaching Hospital where she died of an ovarian hemorrhage (sp). They lovingly convinced me this was not my doing. That did not do much to console me.

I never bred Nancy because of some problems leopards older than three or more years have with breeding getting egg-bound and such. I made tons of mistakes on them both, getting their skin stuck on their heads, their toes, you name it. I'm sure Nancy did not have any toenails. She always had a prized place in my collection. Just the other day I was showing her to someone to illustrate how long they could live. 18 years is good, but I was hoping for 30. She will be missed, and I want to thank her spirit for all that she taught me.
