Hi, I've never had a pet house gecko, but the swollen areas around each eye 
would be a warning for me that perhaps there are mites or parasites lodged 
inside or something of the sort causing a problem.  Or perhaps some sort of a 
bacterial infection due to insect bites (if crickets are left in too long, 
etc).

Just some opinions, hope it helps a bit.
