Hi Marie, The gecko in the photo is a leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) and looks in a very sorry state.
That's definitely some sort of abcess. And in the photo where the leo is licking its nose I can see some infection in its mouth.. That's possibly mouth rot which has spread into the head.. Or it could be that the abcess started in the head and has spread to the mouth. Whatever the problem only a good reptile vet can attempt to treat it. That abcess will definitely require veterinary treatment. Without a vet visit that leopard gecko does not have much of a chance, I hope you can find a good vet near you. Have you tried to remove the unshed skin from its head? If you do, be very careful around that abcess.. You may be better to carefully snip the unshed skin around the abcess, rather than trying to remove it... maybe just try to remove the skin from the "good" side of the head, so the leo can at least see out of one eye. For the good side of the head, that skin could be removed by very gently rubbing over the unshed skin with a wet cotton bud (q-tip), this may take some patience. Ensure that the skin is soft and loose before you try to gently rub it off. If you are able, you could also try using a wet cotton bud to wipe the skin away from the other eye, but I would be very careful not to interfere with the abcess. I agree that the leos would be best kept on paper towel, preferably separately so you can closely monitor each ones eating habits etc. If you want some care information for leopard geckos I have a short caresheet and a comprehensive caresheet on my website: http://www.thegeckospot.com/shortleocare.html (short caresheet) http://www.thegeckospot.com/leocareindex.html (comprehensive caresheet) Best wishes, Pauline http://www.thegeckospot.com The Gecko Spot, UK _______________________________________________ Global Gecko Association http://www.gekkota.com Classifieds http://www.gekkota.com/cgi-gekkota/classifieds.cgi gecko mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gekkota.com/mailman/listinfo/gecko
