Unless geckos have some universal allergic reaction to dogs of which I am unaware, I don't see how that statement could possibly be true. I have two cats that love watching the geckos, and I doubt that's much different. You wouldn't want to let the dogs play with the geckos, or have them in a place where the dogs were pestering them or barking at them all the time. But unless someone else has some kind of wisdom of which I have been deprived and knows otherwise, I can't think of a single reason that you couldn't own both types of animals, proper precautions being taken, of course.

Subject: [gecko]Dogs and geckos?
Date: Tue, 29 Mar 2005 12:08:51 -0600 (Central Standard Time)

 Hello,

I was wondering if anybody knew whether or not I would be able to have a dog
around my gecko. I was told by the people at the pet store, that a dog
could not come over and visit or else my gecko would die. It sounds a bit
odd to me, so I was hoping that someone could tell me if that would actually
happen or not. We would someday like to have our own dog, and it would be
great to know the effect that would have on the gecko.

Thanks a lot,
Sarah
