well, i am by no means experienced with hatching out auriculatus, but ive
heard many times of the same thing happening with ciliatus.  many people
say they want to have their babies hatch out ASAP and try to do so by
elevating the incubation temperatures.  time and time again i see this
happening with those people.  its by no means a sure solution, but i would
recommend incubating your eggs at room temperature, or whatever
temperature it is that the adults find optimal.  sooner or later they'll
hatch, so don't push the due date, or else you're risking effects such as
this.  also, be sure not to over-water your incubation medium, i've heard
many times of embryos dying within the egg because they were "drowned".

perhaps someone experienced with the gargoyles can chime in...
