Is this the list where the maintenance of refdes_renum too is discussed?
Yes.
I wanted to propose a one-line change to its code, which would be upward-compatible with its current behaviour.
I suggest you just post a patch. We can talk endlessly about the pros/cons of a one-line change, but a patch just short-circuits the chatter, puts the idea out there, and can be immediately applied if it is useful. Also, since refdes_renum has been updated recently, I suggest you make sure you have the freshest version available -- either from CVS or from the 20070216 gEDA/gaf release. Finally, please be aware that refdes numbering utilities are multiplying like rabbits in spring. There's also "grenum" which is part of the gEDA distribution, and a new one by John Luciani called "refdes-update" available here: http://www.luciani.org/geda/util/util-index.html#refdes-update Before you implement a simple one-liner, maybe these other scripts will do what you want?
