Hi all,

Based on some informal surveying, we ran into several people
who have 1) heard of gEDA and more importantly 2) have used it. Next year
we should definitely run a discussion on open source hardware or such
(in the context of Summer of Code) as there were few people who might
be interested in such a talk.
However, we did realize pretty quickly that we are the only
CAD or engineering project at the summit. The vast majority or projects
were of the web content management systems, development tool projects,
or OSS umbrella labs just to name a few.
Overall (IMHO) it was a pretty humbling experience because 1)
google is just such a large company (with so much cash and generosity)
and 2) gEDA is such a tiny project (especially when you compare it with
some of the CMS projects that average 300 or so contributers).
Certainly we should start planning for next year. There is a
whole lot to do and the earlier we start organizing the better shape
we will be in. If you want to be involved as a mentor for next year,
please let us know.
Here are some random people pictures from the summit (as expected,
we were not permitted to take pictures inside the buildings). The guy
in the red shirt is Steve. The blonde haired woman is Leslie Hawthorn
(GSoC coordinator with an insane amount of energy). The dinosaur is Stan.
