At one time we were going to create a non-profit organization to do
things like own the trademarks (gEDA icons and the look of the
website), and also accept donations and disburse funds to student
developers.

THis idea died quietly, since the hassle of incorporating, keeping
track of the quartly tax filings, etc, seems large compared to the
amount of money and other assets whcih are part of the gEDA project.

If somebody can convince me that we're reaching a point where
incorporating a non-profit makes sense, I'm all ears.

Alternately, if the FSF (or similar organization) has an "affiliates
program" that might be worth looking into .
