Another reason to change to IPC-7351 is that at www.pcblibraries.com there is a good and free PCB library with a lot of footprints following this convention. The landpatterns are, at least in HKP format for Expedition, just plain text, so the conversion is just text manipulation. No need to deal with binary files. This is the do-it-ourselves way. The other way is to ask if they are willing to support another layout software, and work together to get it done. I remember to see somewhere in the forums that they can provide some tools to make it easier to anybody willing to do it (I couldn't found the link). This way, when the library is updated, the landpatterns for PCB should be automatically generated. Just a thought....
