I will most certainly make one more release before I even think
about adding the symbol signature approach (which btw I still need to
formalize; I'll do that and get comments before I do anything else).
So, there are two short term choice (and I think either are okay):
1) As Werner suggested, fixing component update
-or-
2) Revert some of the changes commonly used symbols.
Werner, which of these would be the right thing to do?
