Also it doesn't help that I don't have permission to access any of the logs for tomcat or apache. But looking at the output of ps -ef, I don't see tomcat running, so I don't think the opengrok server bit is running which would fit with the other bit of log I was able to access.
Also I notice that the source opengrok is indexing is mercurial. It wouldn't be a bad idea to change that over to git.
