Hi devs, I am bumping on this thread, which is about removing gcc4.X support.
I assume kokoro is still using 4.8 or 4.7, considering the compilation issue I am experiencing on https://gem5-review.googlesource.com/c/public/gem5/+/23529 (below the error:) https://source.cloud.google.com/results/invocations/c7b58186-6a39-49bb-8a06-2e38323e7d49/targets/gem5%2Fgcp_ubuntu%2Fpresubmit/log This is not supposed to happen in gcc > 5 as you can see from the GCC bug report https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=36750 Giacomo ________________________________ From: gem5-dev <[email protected]> on behalf of Giacomo Travaglini <[email protected]> Sent: 29 May 2019 17:03 To: gem5 Developer List <[email protected]> Cc: Rahul Thakur <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [gem5-dev] GCC4.X support Hi all, We are at the end of May now, so I guess we can safely remove support for gcc 4.8. This should involve a) Using gcc 5.x (5.4?) in jenkins @Rahul Thakur<mailto:[email protected]> b) Update gem5 requirements documentation (in gem5.org?) Ubuntu 14.04 ships with GCC 4.8. If its not too much hassle supporting 4.8, what about dropping support for gcc < 5.0 after the EOL of Ubuntu 14.04? (So perhaps drop support for gcc < 5.0 beginning May 2019) Best Regards, Chang Hyun Park > On 27 Nov 2018, at 3:53 AM, Jason Lowe-Power <[email protected]> wrote: > > Dropping 4.8/4.9 works for me.
