Michael,

Again personally I would always want my mp3s to be a couple of grades better
than the outbound stream.

>From what I have heard if you broadcast a 64kb file at 64kb rate to the
world the quality you want to achieve just is not there. Step up the source
file to 96 and broadcast at 64 it is perfectly fine. Quality clarity... all
in good proportion.

Having a file at 196 and broadcasting at 64 is not a problem. The file is to
a degree future proof should you ever get to the point of higher quality
broadcasting.

With regards to radio edits and album edits. I would say the radio edit will
generally be shorter and depending on the subject matter the album edit
could contain profanity or inappropriate references in the song that would
be frowned upon on air.

A couple of examples would be : James Blunt - Beautiful : Lily Allen - Smile
: The Streets - Dry your Eyes

These are but a few..... the vein runs a lot deeper :)

Hope this helps

Richard

If you are only broadcasting at 64k, does ripping at 192 or even 320k affect

anything other than increase your disc usage? Is there a benefit at all to
ripping at a higher bitrate than what you are broadcasting at?

All I am trying to do is get the best sound for what I can affort and my
equipment. I am just having a constant problem with the NEW stuff.

Does anyone know what exactly the difference is between a (Radio Edit) and
(Album Version)? My old ears can't tell.
