That all makes perfect sense Tony, thank you. I spent an hour on the phone last evening with a tech from the WMA stream host. We played ping games for that time. Out of it all were some interesting findings. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done about it.
I am not going to bore everyone with the detail-details. But we discovered whenever there was a buffering issue, it general occured when routing went through AT&T's pipes on the internet. We also discovered that there was an issue with my local provider (RoadRunner). There was discernable delays in the stream on a consistent basis. Not always enough to call them suspect, but they held a lot of the higher delay rates. Another suspect wass my router on the stream network. All of these things could verywell contribute to the problem. The interesting thing was that I was the only one complaining about the cut-outs and buffering issue. I have never had anyone complain as a listener. As a matter of fact, this tech in VA, only notice a couple drop-outs while he listened to my stream. So, short of getting a new router that has pack prioritization settings, it seems to just be me experiencing the problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Partigianoni" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2007 2:37 AM Subject: Re: [General-discussion] Buffering issue > Michael, > > With multiple streams the risk of buffering increase as each encoder is > competing for resources.
