I am having similar problems with my connection to mysql.  I'm using
godaddy.com as a web host.  How do I go about getting the ip address for my
web server?

Working from memory (usually foggy on a bright day) but I believe 
go-daddy is a host that causes problems with outbound connections. 
You'll need to talk to them.
