(Note mixed private/public lists)

Dear Attic: Olingo might have enough people to finalize their last release now - which is sadly after the board officially relegated Olingo to the Attic in the December meeting.

If mibo and others can indeed roll a final release, do we have any way to either put that on the attic site, or point to some external release made by past community members?

This is one of those unfortunate timing issues.

Hi Shane and all reading here,

Sorry for my late reply, but I had some serious private issues that resulted in slow response time and not enough time in the last half year to drive the Olingo project (this shouldn't be an excuse, but an explanation). Unfortunately, there were also no other PMCs left, which made my part not easier.

Please don't worry; you don't need an excuse. The ASF understands that we are all volunteers here, and our real lives come first. This exact kind of private issue (in my case, several health complications) has been making me absent the past month myself, so I very much understand.

After a long 10 years, the board will likely be voting to move Apache Olingo to the Attic at our meeting next month.  Thanks to all those who have contributed to this ASF project over the years!

Over the last six months, I also considered moving Olingo to the attic (and mentioned it in the last board reports). I think it is the right decision, but as it is now real, it feels a bit too early (and I have a small tear in my eye).

Nevertheless, I really enjoyed being part of the Olingo project, driving it and keeping it (somehow) alive in the last years. And BIG Kudos to everyone who contributed to the project and is still active and interested.

Indeed - sometimes we don't spend enough time in the Attic process celebrating the community that's built such a great product. Even if there isn't an active and growing tool to work on, all ASF tools have, and continue to be, useful to all sorts of people around the world. Celebrate the long life of your project!

One last question, would it be possible to do a last release before the repo is set to 'read only'?
...snip...

I've included the Attic discussion list above, who are now formally responsible for the Olingo project's assets here at the ASF. They have already started the process of Attic'ing, as seen here:

https://lists.apache.org/thread/4wmgoohthb8ohj8wx2068w4rkd14r221

Note that even if Apache Olingo truly is read-only, my bet is that if you can produce your own not-technically-ASF release elsewhere, we can find a way to point future users at it. (I hope!).

Thanks all,
