Good points John. However, I disagree that "the downfall of M$" has ever been a goal of the open source community. Rather, the goal of the open source community has always been simply the free exchange of code and ideas. Now, that is not to say that there aren't those that would enjoy or that even actively encourage a defeat of Microsoft, but I would characterize that as a goal of the community. But that's just me.
