I've installed on boxes with 128 MB RAM before. Never had a problem. No comments to lilo. I hesitate to ask at this point, but have you tried using a boot floppy to initiate the install? I have a friend who could not install (specifically) Red Hat 7.1 on a certain machine because of its cdrom. He's done SuSE and BSD on it without failure. He used a boot floppy to initiate the install, and RH 7.1 went on without incident. There are instructions available for burning a downloadable boot-floppy-image onto a floppy from DOS, so it'd be an easy thing to try if it hasn't been done yet.
