Ack, I didn't even consider this kinda problem. Choppy, you need to take any extra peripherials out of your PC while you are attempting to establish whether or not you can even install Linux on this PC. Once you know your desired distribution of Linux can install, then place each peripherial, one at a time, back into your machine and attempt to reinstall. Remember when you are troubleshooting a PC problem, try to reduce the things that can go wrong to as few as possible. Combining problems only multiplies the number of possible causes. If Bryan is correct, then removing either your sound card or network card and attempting a reinstall will work, and prove Bryan is right. You can set the IRQs for devices from the LILO prompt, though I don't know the particular settings at the moment. There is a boot prompt HOWTO, and I think the Ethernet HOWTO contains some boot prompt info on setting an IRQ. Good luck!
John Hebert --- Byron Como <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > You have an irq conflict between your network card > and sound card. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Chopin Cusachs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, July 16, 2001 10:33 PM > Subject: Re: [brluglist] Re: Continuing Saga > > > > > > Last lines on the screen are the hard drives and > > CD drives. > > > > I've tried booting to SPBLinux, but need to read > > two floppies, so that will be possible > > when I get the floppy drive working correctly. > > > > I should then be able to view the install log, but > > I didn't remember to write down where it is > written. > > > > I can boot a DOS diskette with the PC-Config > > program, which runs fine, but doesn't understand > > a Linux file system. > > > > Choppy > > > > At 07:20 PM 7/16/01 -0700, you wrote: > > > > >All the way through the list of devices?
