I gotta know, Byron. What on *Earth* tipped you off to a conflict at irq
5 ("sound card")? My own dmesg follows up hard drives with floppies,
RAID, RAMDISK, then mounting /, and finally NIC's. I could fail to mount
the filesystem root entirely, and the last thing that'd show on my dmesg
or logs would be "hda partition check". If I only got as far as detecting
that I even HAD hard drives, the last thing on my logs would be just that,
my partition table. I don't get it.
Personally, *I've* never seen these kinds of problems with an install
either. I've installed and run Linux off and on for some three years;
didn't have THIS kind of trouble with Red Hat 5. I'm just glad it appears
to be over, more-or-less. I wish you good luck, Choppy. Wish I could
offer "help" on top of that, but you're just gonna have to settle for luck
from me. You've sent some 30+ messages about this install, and I haven't
had a clue about one yet. I don't get it. Good luck.
