Actually I need to make a correction, if you use vga=791, you need to have framebuffer compiled into the kernel. Also, it will not take effect until you begin booting the kernel. If you have a s**tty boot screen, you can get rid of the menu and use the old prompt. That's what I did with Slackware 8. There is a bootmenu.b and a (boottext.b) something like that and a soft link from boot.b -> to one of those just switch it. Now when it boots, it doesn't give me a nasty red screen with options in a box, instead I get the old LILO boot: prompt. As far as getting a graphical startup selection menu like Mandrake, I think those are written from scratch. so maybe you could find a Mandrake box and copy the boot.b file from it.
Hope this helps, Boyd _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ================================================ BRLUG - The Baton Rouge Linux User Group Visit http://www.brlug.net for more information.
