Sounds like a combination of problems. But, when it comes to tracking down problems, I _always_ suspect software, not hardware, first. Software is just easier to screw up, especially on a closed source operating system. Now, it may be that the hardware in the problem machine needs an updated driver. Or it maybe some software that was installed screwed up earlier installed software, etc.
Have you tried a fresh install of M$ Windows and testing that extensively? If that does not cause BSODs, then I suspect a bad sw config in some later installed sw.
