Odds are you'd have problems if you can't use mouse or keyboard until after 
the
operating system is installed.   I'd think again; it is much safer to have PS/2
mouse and keyboard ports.

Maybe someone on the list knows of a success in installing Linux with only
a USB mouse/keyboard.   Of course you might install Linux on your hard
drive on another system and then move it to your new one.
