There is an ftpfs kernel module at http://ftpfs.sourceforge.net. I've never used it, but just ran across the link. Looks like it'll do what you want though...
Also, note that just because you are switched doesn't mean your aren't susceptable to sniffing. There are lots of tricks you can do to a switch (ARP spoofing, flooding) to aid in sniffing. Although it is much harder to sniff on a switch than a hub, never ever trust that wire that goes into the wall. Use encryption if you want to be secure. :) later!
