Right now, they have a network of 486 machines which I think can be converted to a K12LTSP style project. I think this would be a great opportunity for BRLUG. What I'm wondering right now, are these things: First, can this library project be adapted to schools as well? If we have a mission plan like what's being drafted for libraries, this has a better chance of getting off the ground. Are BRLUG members interested in providing the services to set this up, as well as providing ongoing support? It can be an opportunity for Linux 'newbies' to be involved in the creation of a Linux network. Can we get a few volunteers to make a presentation for the members of the board for the school? Right now, they've got an impressive offer for new PCs loaded with Office software, but I think we can do better by offering support and education to the students with Open Source software. There are some very interesting resources for Linux in education now. Visit the links off of http://www.K12Linux.org to see them all. I'd like to know what you all think. -Tim On Wed, 2002-06-26 at 18:28, Doug Riddle wrote: That sounds like a plan. By March we should be on fairly solid ground!
