Tim, Sounds like a very interesting project.
I would like to point out though that there are some differences between the PLLUG project and setting up a Linux network for a school. The PLLUG project intends to put free and open source software, documentation and media on public library shelves for patrons to check out and use. Since the missions of both the free software movement and of public libraries tend to be similar, I thought it would be a good marriage if librarians knew that there was a lot of quality software, docs, and media that is free for the public to use. I would be willing to help how I can, but unfortunately I am stretched pretty thin at the moment, with the BRLUG Newbies/CCCC Linux SIG and the PLLUG project. What about setting up a LUG in the area local to Plaquemine? Are there any known Linux users in that area? There is interest in setting up a Gonzales Linux User Group, and I will be helping in that as well in the near future. The project you are describing will need one or more dedicated individuals to spearhead. Is there anybody in BRLUG that is willing to do that? I might be willing to do a small presentation, but that is all I can afford at the moment.
