I tried setting the FSB to 100 MHz.  Alsa, there was no change in the boot 
sequence.  As far as I am able to tell, the power supply appears to be 
producing.  I actually thought the original lockup was due to a software 
glitch.  What really bugs me is that the system was working one second and 
then crapped-out the next.
