Hello everyone: I just wanted to point out that I believe it would be a good distribution to include for the public library project. Forgive me if you already have ;-)
The reason I became a Linux user was because I was curious how an different OS would run on my Mac back in 1995. LinuxPPC was the solution. A couple years later I bought my first PC, then a Mac again, then PC and besides a couple installation issues and some PPC specific applications there is virtually no difference. I believe YellowDog Linux is the continuation of the LinuxPPC project. Many mac users would like to use another OS just to play. A good example is Virtual PC which runs windows on top of MacOS. It has been around for a long time, there was another one called Softwindows and there was a company who made a card to run windows applications. Anyway, we Mac users were proud to say that we could run windows on top of our maces. The performance was really bad but just booting windows was a thrill. So running Linux natively .... that was a gift from good. Also, the applications for these platform are also extremely expensive and the number of shareware or freeware applications is very limited; therefore, I believe many people that already have the hardware might be willing to give a shot to Yellowdog. anyway, later, gotta date with some lady code Alvaro Zúñiga ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dustin Puryear" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 14, 2002 12:57 PM Subject: Re: [brlug-general] Yellow Dog > Apple's. > > At 10:45 AM 8/14/2002 -0700, you wrote: > >What is Yellow Dog's niche? > > > >-K > >--- Dustin Puryear <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Anyone interested in some Yellow Dog Linux CDs?
