Does this article have a faint air of unreality about it...

So $100M is "minuscule" ??? let's face it ... assuming that they install W2K
Server, then the city will be faced with "upgrading" to XP server in the
future, and of course will need to purchase "support" contracts for all the
stuff that they are getting free today.  The idea here is that if M$ give
away $100M today then they will get it back in the future ... and of course
can write off the "gift" against current income, thus reducing their taxes.

But of course they will probably need to buy a whole slew of new PC's to run
this new MS software on so I'd guess it's pigs to the trough for the cities
favorite PC source... Ah, but that expense is probably in a different
budget...
