This looks interesting. However it looks like fast access is necessary to make installation practical. Wonder if anyone with such might be interested in downloading and burning Cygwin to one or more CDs? From what I read, the tar/gzip utilities would need to come first.
Might be a good way to learn a bit more about the mechanics of main Linux components even where direct installation of Linux, as on my system, doesn't produce a usable operating system. Maybe one of the Linux experts will have occasion to visit Covington and would trade some help for a decent meal in one of our local restaurants.
